This cross-over strap offers a weighty advantage over a simple neckstrap: the weight of the radio control transmitter and transmitter tray is usually concentrated on the back of your neck, but with this arrangement the crossed straps distribute the load comfortably across your shoulders. Two rings at the front prevent the strap guides getting tangled in the tray support attachments, and ensure that the straps rest flat against your body.
Pilots who like to fly a lot will prefer to keep the straps "on" all the time, and just clip the transmitter tray on and off, complete with transmitter.
