One of the claimed advantages of a hand-held transmitter is that you hold the transmitter directly in your hands, eliminating the need for a neckstrap. However, if you are used to handling a large transmitter mounted in a tray, this advantage turns out to be a problem, and many pilots have difficulties getting used to such an arrangement.
This tray provides full access to the transmitter, with no restrictions on socket access. The only time you need to remove the transmitter from the tray is when you have to change the battery.
