The Alouette II from VARIO is a 700, resp. 750 size scale helicopter. You can power this remote-controlled model helicopter with gasoline (benzin), turbine or electric propulsion. Aérospatiale is the creator of the man-carrying version.

For VARIO's 750 Alouette II we recommend a maximum main rotor speed of 1350 rpm. Electric drive sets from VARIO are already tuned to this head speed.

The construction of the Alouette II is appealing, as there is no need for typical GRP work. The lightweight and rigid lattice fuselage contributes significantly to the model's high flying performance and ensures good access to the mechanical components. Load baskets serve as a scale option to accommodate the motor drive batteries. (GRP version only compatible with the cockpits Ord.No. 305/29 and 307/29.)

You can convert the Alouette II into a Lama by converting it to a 3-blade tail rotor. The specially developed rear rotor supplement sets are recommended for this conversion. Kit number 3000/3002 can be upgraded with a GRP pulpit with windows (Ord.No. 305/80). This can be made removable for easy battery changes. If you order the kit at the same time as the pulpit windows, you will receive a 30% discount on the GRP pulpit and you will receive it in exchange for the standard lexan pulpit.

T-Rex version

Kit Ord.No. 3007 is adapted to the T-Rex 700 mechanics (until vintage 2011 / version DFC / DFC-Dominator). For later versions from November 2016 onwards, the supplementary set Ord.No. 307/100 is required. If you are planning to buy a new mechanical system, please choose the variant 700L V2, but we recommend a VARIO mechanism due to the speed. You have the option of converting the T-Rex rotor head to a true-to-life 3-blade rotor head.

A special feature of this model is the detachable nose section, which makes a battery change easy.

This kit already includes the GRP canopy, so the Ord.No. 305/80 upgrade is not necessary here.

If you want to implement the 3 blade-tail rotor, which is typical for a Lama, the tail rotor fittings set Ord.No. 92/87 developed especially for the T-Rex Lama is recommended.

The location and type of battery accommodation requires a little initiative and is the responsibility of each modeler. VARIO recommends placing the batteries in the load baskets and attaching them.

Modifications for T-Rex up to 2011

With the fuselage of the Alouette II and the dynamics of the Alouette III, the full size SA 315 Lama has gained high esteem for operations in hot regions and high mountainous areas (India / Himalayas, South America / Andes). Apart from the higher skid landing gear without wheels, the immediately recognizable difference to the Alouette II is the electronic control panels in the cockpit, and the 3-blade tail rotor. To this day, the Lama is the only helicopter capable of transporting another helicopter of the same type, and in the summer of 1969, it achieved a record altitude of 12,442 meters.

Note: Ord.No. 3000 and 3002 are currently being revised, delivery time therefore still unknown.

  • lattice fuselage, stainless steel (ready-made soldered)
  • pre-assembled canopy (polycarbonate, 3007: GRP) with opening doors
  • alu parts for mounting the mechanics
  • stainless steel tail rotor shaft (Ø 6 mm) (3001: Ø 2 mm steel)
  • tail control pushrod
  • landing gear (Ø 15 mm)
  • aluminum side panels
  • various small parts
