Petrol engines of this size achieve a reliable service in chainsaws, lawnmowers and other machines for years. They are considered as exceedingly sturdy, and in fact can be destroyed by gross negligent force only.
Basically running in is not essential, but you should not run the engine at continuous maximum power during the first hours of operation.
The engine is manufactured as a capable object of utility. Follow the published suggestions for the handling, and use a good quality high-grade fuel mixture. The advantage is obvious by the deep sonorous noise in operation, and by the simple handling without starter, glow plug heating, batteries etc. Don't give away such benefits by retrying on every flying day to adjust the carburettor for maximum demand. Keep the settings that have already been proved satisfactory.
If you sometimes have doubts on the performance of the systems please refer once more to the settings of your RC system and the interaction of the throttle and pitch curves. Failures especially appear obviously in adverse outside temperatures. The correct handling of the engine, responsible operation, will give you much pleasure with your petrol engine.
