The Chinook XL from VARIO is a scale helicopter in the 1050 size. The kit is designed for electric flight. Building a model helicopter with a tandem rotor arrangement has its very own charm and also its very own challenges. You will be amazed at how easy and wonderful a VARIO Chinook is to fly - no matter how big or small!
Theo van Houten was the creator of the original molds for the fuselage. Rivets and panel lines are integrated so that the GRP parts already offer a detailed surface. Theo has chosen Vario to further develop his Chinook to kit maturity. Based on the success of the small Chinook Ord.No. 4800, Vario has designed a mechanism and its own rotor heads for Theo's Chinook. An extensive program of scale parts completes the project.
Theo was a real fan of the CH-47 and full of talent and energy. In the last months of his life, despite his short life expectancy, we were able to give him a lot of pleasure by showing him the progress in development. His dream was to see it fly again with the new mechanics. That didn't work out, but he was certainly watching from above during the Maidenflight.
R.i.P., Theo! Thank you for the conspiratorial exchange, the give and take and the friendship we have had with you and Helmut ever since.
For safety reasons, it is mandatory to use the specially damped tandem rotor heads from VARIO.
For the 1050 Boeing-Vertol CH-47 from VARIO we recommend a system speed of approx. 820 rpm, corresponding to 83-84% controller opening.
Here you find the software setup for the Bavarian Demon. Caution! Take care of the servo direction and mounting orientation of the sensor box which need individual setup according to your model.

Tandem Electric Mechanics 480/22 included in fuselage
Our propulsion recommendation for this helicopter (Ord.No. 4800)! Contemporary mechanics, especially designed for the scale model electric flight. Electric motors are quiet, low in vibration, without exhaust gases and residual thrust. The blade slap noise sound of the rotor blades is more noticeable than with other types of propulsion and the result is a true-to-life impression in flight. For this electromechanical system we offer drive components for 12S LiPos.
