A Specification issued by the American Defence Ministry in 1960 included the following requirements: light observation helicopter (LOH) for the various tasks of personnel transport and evacuation, escort protection and attack. Twelve helicopter types were proposed, the successful model being the Hughes 369, which was subsequently renamed the OH-6A Cayuse. The first of five prototypes flew in February 1963, production commenced in May 1965, and in the period from March to April 1966 the OH-6A Cayuse had set up no fewer than 323 world records.
By August 1970, when the last example was delivered, a total of 1434 helicopters of this type had been built. They were exported to Brazil, Japan, Colombia, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico and the Philippines.
In the space of 54 pages and 169 pictures this full-colour illustrated volume covers the smallest detail of the OH-6A Cayuse. The accompanying English text is accurate but extremely brief. This book will provide any model builder with plenty of valuable information on a scale model of the type.
