The "1.80 m Lama" from VARIO is a 850 size scale helicopter. You can power this remote-controlled model helicopter with electric propulsion. Aérospatiale is the creator of the man-carrying version. Advanced fuselage kit regarding quality and technology: It is developed with a true-to-original 3-point-linkage by ball raced aluminium bell cranks as well as a true-to-original swashplate drive. The rear metal lattice panels are easy detachable and allow optimum access to the mechanics. The battery packs are housed under the cockpit floor. The cockpit floor including the rear seat row can be removed easily. The front seats are located by magnets and are removed prior to this.
For VARIO's 850 Lama SA 315 B we recommend a maximum main rotor speed of 1270 rpm. Electric drive sets from VARIO are already tuned to this head speed.

Electric Mechanics 305/24
Compact r.h.r. mechanics, especially designed for fuselage Ord.No. 3005 with a low noise level because of the belt gear stage and spiral-toothed plate gear stage. Electric motors are quiet, low in vibration, without exhaust gases and residual thrust. The blade slap noise of the rotor blades is more noticeable than with other types of propulsion and the result is a true-to-life impression in flight. For this electromechanical system we offer a drive set for 12S LiPos.
With the fuselage of the Alouette II and the dynamics of the Alouette III, the full size SA 315 Lama has gained high esteem for operations in hot regions and high mountainous areas (India / Himalayas, South America / Andes). Apart from the higher skid landing gear without wheels, the immediately recognizable difference to the Alouette II is the electronic control panels in the cockpit, and the 3-blade tail rotor. To this day, the Lama is the only helicopter capable of transporting another helicopter of the same type, and in the summer of 1969, it achieved a record altitude of 12,442 meters.
